Over Himal and Dale: a 35-year journey from Gorkha to Littondale – Saturday 11th May @ 7:30 pm

Come, experience and enjoy an evening of Nepal! Eat a traditional Nepali meal of ‘dal bhat tarkari’; learn how to remove a leech from a child’s nose and which way to set a broken elbow bitten by a bear; find out why it’s important to distinguish between an apple and an injection, an umbrella and your chest; see the sights and hear the sounds of the hills and mountains of Nepal. All this and much more!!

Ian and Sally Smith went out to Nepal in 1984 and lived and worked in small hill hospital and village development programme for 8 years, subsequently moving to Kathmandu where they spent a further 5 years, before relocating to Geneva. They recently returned to Yorkshire and now live in Arncliffe. Ian and Sally will tell their story through anecdotes, photos and video of their time in Nepal, accompanied by a delicious meal of curried veg, meat and lentils with rice.

Tickets £5 including the meal.  Please book in advance so that we know numbers for cooking.
